The European Route of Saint Martin of Tours

In 2005, the Council of Europe awarded the European Cultural Route award to a trail leading from Szombathely in Hungary to the French city of Tours. The route connects towns and cities that marked the life of one of the most popular European saints. Saint Martin was born in Szombathely, in the former Roman settlement of Savaria. He was buried in Tours. The European Saint Martin of Tours Route, with the entire trail being 2500 km long, connects the two cities.
