Eastern Slovenia has a moderate continental climate. In the utmost north-eastern part of the country, which is called Prekmurje, the influence of the continental climate is more distinct. The annual precipitation does not exceed 900 mm, with the most of it falling during showers and storms in the summer. The winter months are mostly dry.
The average annual temperature is 10–12°C. The Prekmurje region can also boast the highest number of sunny days in Slovenia – more than 200 per year.
